ABOUT ME
I am the most organized free spirit you will ever meet. I cherish spontaneity and creativity. There is nothing I like more than exploring somewhere new to observe my surroundings in an unfamiliar place. I cherish art and imagination and am constantly looking for innovative ways to express my passion for design. This is the "free spirit" in my personality. However, I have an equally strong type A side to my personality. I am driven almost to a fault. When I set a goal, there is nothing keeping me from accomplishing it. My organization and ambition makes me a leader by trait. These traits will help me as I plan to enter one of the most competitive fields in the world- Theater Design and Production, primarily Costume Design. Theater has been my passion since I was roughly thirteen years old and now, on the precipice of graduation, I am about to begin this nomadic, artistic existence.. What makes me unique is that I consider myself to be a very logic-based artist. I am a mixture of smoothness, structure, control and flexibility, artistry and impulse.
I believe in learning. Everything and everyone around you can teach you about life. When I was seven, my grandma taught me how to sew. This one lesson spurred my love for manipulating and molding fabric which eventually incited my passion for costume design. My dream is to become a renown, professional costume designer, working happily in the industry. When I was seven, my dream was to own a pony and a life-size Barbie. Never would I have imagined that one lesson would spark my ambitions for the rest of my life. Openness to learning is how I chose to live my life. I also believe that no dream is too big. Every dream starts with small steps: learning how to sew a pillow, learning how shade a figure, learning how to work an industrial machine, learning how to work with a particular director—all small steps that will further my ambitions. I believe art matters. Art might not be able to save a life but it makes life worth living. Art is something that can inspire you. It can lift you up on your worst days and make you realize there is something greater than just our own little world. I express myself by telling stories through clothes and one day I hope my art will matter. I do not believe in bounds: with each step, with each lesson I can improve and further my art to achieve my dream.
